Amazing how this article is so current, even though it was written over 1 year ago. China and Russia, the EU, India, and Brazil are all positioning themselves for the coming energy crisis. This crisis will force countries to act in their own "strategic interest" (read: seizing control of WW oil supplies). If we want to maintain lone superpower status among the world's countries, we must be prepared to fight and win any conflict for energy...
In other words, we are on the cusp of a new kind of war -- between those who have enough energy and those who do not but are increasingly willing to go out and get it. While nations have always competed for oil, it seems more and more likely that the race for a piece of the last big reserves of oil and natural gas will be the dominant geopolitical theme of the 21st century.
